Phil's Barber Shop is a fresh approach on old tradition, catering to the grooming needs of the modern man. Our expertly trained barbers provide classic men's cuts and straight-razor shaves.
WHO IS PHIL?
Filippo or Phil Marsala was the grandfather of Phil's Barber Shop owner, Joe Randazzo. Phil was born near Palermo, Sicily in 1895 and was one of 8 siblings. At just 7 years old, he was sent to a barber as an apprentice where he learned his profession. When he was 12, Phil and his family moved to Chicago where he attended school and learned to read and write in both English and Italian.
Phil spent a brief time in California working as a barber. After returning to Michigan, where his family had settled, he met a young widow, Mary at a Christmas party at the town hall. After writing a letter to Mary declaring his feelings for her, and sending his two brothers to ask for her hand in marriage, the two were wed and lived in Mary's house from her first husband in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
The front room of their home was converted into a two-chair barber shop in 1931 and Phil's Barber Shop was established.
Appointments
Please arrive on time for your appointment to ensure full service. If you are late, we will do everything we can to accommodate you. If you are excessively late, we will have to reschedule your appointment. Please inform your barber of any sensitivities or allergies you may have so we may better serve your needs. We kindly inform you that we do not provide services to children under the age of 13.
cancellations
Appointments at Phil's Barber Shop must be secured with a credit card at the time of reservation. We require 24 hours notice for a cancellation or an appointment reschedule. A cancellation fee equal to 50% of the full amount of the services reserved will be charged to your credit card for missed appointments, cancellations and reschedules without a minimum of 24 hours notice.
returns
When accompanied with an original receipt, unused and unopened products may be returned for a full refund in the same method as the original form of payment. Used and opened products may not be returned or exchanged.
